Holiday Decorating Contest

The Chamber puts on the Holiday Decorating Contest also.  We split the contest into three categories:  businesses, home, & rural home/farm.  The winners each get Minneota Bucks to spend in their local businesses.  The Chamber committee then goes out and drives around, judging the entrants.  It is a chance to decorate our homes, and show off the spirit of the community.

Booville

Boo-ville is a Halloween Community “project” that involves everyone that wants to be involved.  Any businesses, organizations and clubs that would like to set up a Halloween display in Memorial Park are welcome to do so.  Citizens are invited to stop by and visit the displays, especially in the evening, as many of them are lit up at night.  Then there is a vote taken, and the best display wins Minneota Chamber Bucks.  It is exciting to see the different displays and such that people come up with.  Last year was the first year this was held, and it sure caught a lot of interest from members of the community, and people just passing through on Highway 68.

St. Patrick's Day

Minneota Area Chamber of Commerce sponsors a St. Patrick’s Day Parade.  This is a small parade, with lots of fun infused into it.  It is a just for fun event, that is held in the late afternoon of St. Patrick’s Day.  The Irish we have in town, and the not so Irish, get together and have a little enjoyment out of dressing up the part of an Irish person, or doing a little jig.  We try to keep some spirit going in our little town, keep the excitement alive, and show the kids some old fashioned fun!!

City Beautification

beautification.jpgCity Beautification is something that our community takes pride in.  The Chamber sponsors the planting of the barrels, the corners, Memorial Park, and other areas around the town.  Look around during the summer at all of the beautiful flowers planted by the City Offices and also along Hwy 68 when you come into town.  Don’t forget to look at the individual houses and the beautiful landscaping and flower planting that these people have done themselves.  Members of the Community help to take care of all of these flowers that are planted.  They plant, weed and water the plants to help keep up with the beautification.  We also help with the upkeep of the Parks as we have several in town.  Have you ever taken a walk on the Walking Trail in and around town?  This takes you around a good percent of the perimeter of the city, and helps you to see the beautiful nature that we have right outside our back doors. There are many things to see and do in our beloved little community, get out and see what there is outside your door.
