Easter Egg Hunt

The Easter Egg Hunt is held at St. Edward’s Church outdoor area (inclement weather sends us inside); with children of all ages invited.  We play all types of fun games by age groups.  As other children are playing the games, we then send children (by age groups) on the Egg Hunt.  This is a fun event for the kids, as well as the adults working and watching.  The children are happy as they leave with “mitts” full of candy filled Easter Eggs and prizes from the games that they played.  This is a MACC sponsored event held the Saturday morning before Easter.

Spring & Fall Garage Sales

Spring and Fall Garage Sales are set up and sponsored by the Minneota Area Chamber of Commerce.  This is a chance for anyone that would like to clean out some closets or garages, or what have you and have a Garage or Yard Sale.  This is a City Wide event, and the Chamber prints up maps and lists the addresses with a brief list of items that you have on your sale.  There is minimal charge for this, as we also do advertising in the paper for the sales.  Spring sales are usually held in May, and the fall sales are usually held in September.

Progressive Supper

The Minneota Businesses hold a Progressive Supper in their stores in January of each year.  This is a fundraiser for a local Charity each year.  One store has the Salads, another has the appetizers, another has the desserts, etc.  As time goes by, new varieties are added, such as Wild Game.  People of the Community are asked to make their favorite dish, and bring it to the proper store by 4 p.m. of that day.  The stores are open later, and people can come in and shop, and taste test the items that were brought in.  After they have taste tested, it is asked that they vote, by putting a $1 in for their favorite choice.  This is the money that goes to the Charity of choice for that given year.

Senior Citizen Day

Senior Citizens Day is something new this year.  We held this in June and started the day out right for the people, by serving them coffee, juice and rolls at the Community Center. This is an event sponsored by the Minneota Area Chamber of Commerce, and seniors are welcome from the area.  We then handed out coupons for dollars off in the local participating stores.  This was a chance for us to say Thank You to the local Senior Citizens and show our appreciation for all they have done for and in the Community; whether there help was given in years past, or just recently.  Watch for this event to grow, with more events being added for during the day.

Music in the Park is just a fun for all people and ages event.  Just an evening to walk or drive up town to Memorial Park, sit in your lawn chair and enjoy the music and a Root beer Float.  Local talent, Nona Faye Gottskalkson and her daughter sing some beautiful songs for an hour or so.

It is a beautiful evening to enjoy in beautiful downtown Minneota.
